The Bedouin royal tribal cape is made of purple file material with hand applique and crossing-stitch embroidery. I discovered it in a second-hand store for high fashion clothing in Amman, Jordan. It reportedly belonged to Queen Alia, the wife of King Hussein bin Talal of the Hashemite KIngdom of Jordan.
Queen Alia became my heartfelt sister. This poem was inspired by our deep friendship.

Sisters
There stood a woman crying...
(She thought she was alone.)
She turned and saw the Queen was there
she'd stepped down from her throne.
The woman's eyes were filled with tears
no words could speak her grief.
The life shed known had fallen down
just then her world had ceased.
The Queen stood quietly waiting,
compassion on her face.
She, too, had known the pain of loss.
(Was that her price for grace?)
She said, "Be brave, my dear
as you shed your tears
for that we can allow.
We've known life's pain, and
it will be our gain,
For we are sisters now."
