Prelude
In the manner of a grand overture, the Maestro raises his baton and sets into motion his living sonata for his greatest creation… man.
With just a thought, which is beyond the threshold of the speed of light and simply is, he reaches into the orbit of a great meteor and hurls it through the dark matter of space.
As it continues its trajectory, the meteor passes through an infinite spectrum of galaxies scattered throughout the universe, its cross-hairs focused on one precise target… a garden of God’s greatest delight, a brooding place where life swirls in timelessness, embraced by a planet molded by the very Spirit of God. A planet that perpetually swells and diminishes as it breathes with life.1
~~~~~~~~
An amazing plan from the foundation of the world unfolded in perfect order to give one particular creature the greatest gift of all… free will. Without the plan, man would live according to basic primary instincts like all God’s other creatures, life forms that bring Him joy but do not share His passionate creative heart. It was brilliant the way God accomplished His goal. In no way could He program man to love Him and desire to share His heart. No, it had to be a choice for the man to make. It had to come from man’s own desire, and for that, God had a plan. The beginning was beyond light years. A timelessness that was like a most beautiful dream where God’s perfect creation walked with Him and talked with Him in the cool of the evening. What was shared on those occasions? We know that man was given the responsibility to take care of God’s creation. As the husbandman of God's beautiful world, the man - called Adam, began by giving names to all the creatures around him. In doing that he established his authority over them as their caretaker. So far, the plan of God was working well. However, like a rare jewel, God’s plan had many facets that began to shine and reflect His light. As part of that plan, God, the Creator, also put the man in a highly conflicting situation, one which would compel him to make a choice between overriding his basic desire to please his Creator and the woman he dearly loved. How would he choose? God, the Omniscient One, knew. It was part of His brilliant plan. It would bring about the desired result. He would gain a companion-friend who would share His heart, not because love was required, but because love was man’s choice. Together greater things were, yet, to be done. In this, God was so pleased with Himself that he flung out His hand and millions of angels gathered to sing and celebrate in harmony. ~~~~~~~~ To orchestrate the plan, the Maestro raised His baton and, like the tones of a mellow flute, a seductive serpent sang his song of lies to Eve. It wasn’t just any serpent. No, this one had a unique purpose. It would be an adversarial pawn especially designed and programmed according to God’s will to facilitate his plan. Before the deafening first-spoken word that spun the worlds into being, God created a mighty angel of light with but one deadly flaw, which was by His intentional design… the flaw of pride. God allowed the beautiful angel to walk through the Heavenly halls of the fiery stones. He even arrayed the arch-angel with every precious stone. Yet, because of his flaw of pride, he made the disastrous mistake of challenging the True Light, the One who, first created the theory of all things and then from that… everything. |
It was completely delusional for a created being to think it could, in any way, be equal to its Creator. It didn’t take but a beat in time for the Great Maestro, who holds all things together, to continue working His plan. With a great flash of lightning and thunder that roared throughout all eternity, He cast the false contender out of Heaven and down to Earth! The very place where He would place his most prized treasure… man. At that moment, the contender’s name instantly changed from Lucifer, the angel of light, to Satan, the nonredeemable, eternally fallen. Rather than Heaven being its regal domain, its rule would now be confined to Earth’s firmament. He became known as the prince and power of the air."1 Man, therefore, who was “created a little lower than the angels”2 would, for a time, be within the fallen angel's influence. Satan, taking the form of a slithering, conniving serpent wove his way among the branches of the forbidden tree that shimmered with a heady concoction that seemingly promised god-like power, known as the tree of knowledge of good and evil -- the forbidden tree. It was Satan's assignment to entice the man's woman, Eve, with his lies and eventually cause her to succumb to taking the first bite of what God deigned to be forbidden, God clearly spoke saying, "In the day that you eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you will surely die." Oh, but the serpent seductively whispered in Eve's ear that she would not surely die. "Death" - what did that mean? Being an eternal creature, she had no point of reference, and after all, God told Adam not to eat of the forbidden fruit -- not her! God, therefore, knew she would be seduced by the sly one, the one who caused all her senses to inflame with overpowering illicit, desire. In a great moment of fleeting passion, she yielded to the temptation to taste what was forbidden. Her mind reeling and burning with excitement, she turned and offered the heady elixir to Adam. Caught between obedience to the Creator and his inflamed passion, he yielded to a momentary thrill that would bring mankind untold grief for millenniums. ~~~~~~~~ Satan played a wicked hand,
He thought he’d foul the Master’s plan. with cunning tongue, he did deceive… the innocent minds of Adam and Eve. The holy couple bent to hear the lies the snake whispered in their ears. He said they surely would not die if they disobeyed their God most high! God knew they would not be able to resist Satan, the one chosen to be the facilitator of his grand scheme. Through this manner of disobedience the choice was made, the choice to obey God… or not to.
